Official: Nwaneri, Ismail, Oyetunde sign scholarship deals at Arsenal
Published: July 05, 2023With a statement on their official website, Premier League club Arsenal have announced their new intake of academy scholars for the 2023-2024 season with three talented teenagers eligible to represent the Nigeria national teams part of the group.
As widely reported, history-making attacking midfielder Ethan Nwaneri, has ended speculation about his future by putting pen to paper on a new contract.
The England U17 international is among the new intake of academy scholars, consisting of thirteen players who will join Arsenal U18s squad on a fulltime basis next season.
Two other players of Nigerian descent in the shape of Daniel Oyetunde and Cam’ron Ismail have also put pen to paper on scholarship deals and have reported for pre-season training.
Oyetunde and Ismail have both experienced U18s football, with the former making three appearances in the U18 Premier League albeit off the bench and the latter playing six games in the division last term in what was their final season as schoolboys.
A left-back by trade, Ismail is also eligible to represent the national teams of England and Egypt, and joined Arsenal's Hale End Academy at U15 level.
Oyetunde also joined Arsenal during his U15 year, and has been described as 'a very quick and direct attacking player who is able to score lots of different types of goals and is able to operate as a number 9 or wide attacker'.
