Official: Athletic Bilbao sign Nigerian-born left-back for C team
Published: July 12, 2023
Athletic Bilbao have signed Nigerian-born defender Eghosa Nomayo for their C team, the La Liga club officially announced on Wednesday, July 12.
The length and financial terms of the contract have not been disclosed by the eight-time La Liga champions.
A left-back by trade, Eghosa is moving to CD Basconia, coached by Bittor Llopis, from Bilbao-based club Santutxu FC.
According to Spanish sports daily Diario AS, Eghosa was born in Nigeria and has lived with his parents in Durango since he was eight years old.
He spent the formative years of his career with Cultural de Durango of the town of his adoption and the Abadiño before transferring to Santutxu FC
Eghosa has been described as a left-sided defender with prodigious physique and has pace to burn, but he has a room for improvement due to the fact that he has not played professional football.
The 2004-born player will be teammates with former Liverpool winger Elijah Gift next season.
