Official: St.Gallen sign Nigeria's Dream Team VI invitee who learned his trade at Bayern
Published: July 23, 2023With a statement on their official website, Swiss Super League side FC St. Gallen have announced the signing of Nigeria's Dream Team VI invitee Chima Okoroji.
Born in Munich, Germany to an English mother and Nigerian father, Okoroji was among the foreign-based young stars called up to a Nigeria U23 training camp in Abuja in December 2014.
The defender who last played for SV Sandhausen has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with St. Gallen, until the summer of 2025.
Okoroji started his career at TSV Grünwald before joining the youth team of Bayern Munich where he spent a decade.
The left-back transferred to SC Freiburg in the summer of 2018 and enjoyed loan spells at Jahn Regensburg and SC Paderborn during hist time with the Bundesliga club.
He is credited with two appearances in the German Bundesliga and played in 101 games combined for three different clubs in the 2.Bundesliga.
"With his experience from over 100 games in the second Bundesliga, Chima can perfectly complement our left-back. We are happy to welcome Chima to our team," St. Gallen's Head of Sport, Alain Sutter said.
Okoroji has been assigned the number 36 jersey at St. Gallen for the 2023-2024 season.
