Nigerian central defender refuses transfer to Tottenham Hotspur
Published: August 06, 2023Nigerian central defender Tosin Adarabioyo has sensationally rejected a transfer to Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur, according to reports.
The Sun UK, making reference to Foot Mercato, claims that Tosin has refused a move to join Tottenham from Fulham despite the Cottagers trying to force through a deal.
Tottenham are targeting Tosin to bolster their defensive ranks but this website can confirm that Tosin prefers a move to French Ligue 1 club Monaco and applied for a Nigerian passport, meaning he will not count as a non-EU player if his proposed switch to the Principality club materializes.
Spurs are pushing to sign Tosin as he is seen as a cheaper alternative to Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi, who is valued in the region of 60 million pounds.
Per the report from France, Fulham have instructed agents to take the Manchester City academy product to Tottenham Hotspur.
Tosin has not featured for Fulham in their pre-season fixtures, fueling speculation that he is not in the plans of manager Marco Silva for the forthcoming season and a transfer is on the cards.
With less than a year left on his contract, Fulham are keen to sell him this summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer at the end of the 2023-2024 campaign.
Since landing at Craven Cottage in 2020, Tosin has logged 107 appearances in all competitions, scoring 3 goals, one in the Premier League and the other two in the Championship.
