Official: Former Arsenal, Celtic and West Ham striker Okoflex joins FC Zurich
Published: August 14, 2023Through their official website, Swiss Super League club FC Zürich have announced the signing of Republic of Ireland underage international of Nigerian descent, Armstrong Okoflex.
The former Arsenal and Celtic youth teamer has joined the 13-time Swiss champions on a two-year contract.
Okoflex's transfer to FC Zürich has ended his search for a new club after he was released by West Ham United at the end of the 2022-2023 campaign.
The Hammers did not trigger the one-year extension they held in the deal bringing him from Celtic in 2021.
The 21-year-old spent the first half of last season on loan at Swansea City, where he made thirteen appearances in the Championship before he was recalled in the winter transfer market.
In his debut season at West Ham, Okoflex was the development squad's top scorer with 18 goals across 29 appearances in all competitions.
He has been described as a strong and dynamic winger with dribbling skills who can be used in various positions in attack.
Okoflex, who has been assigned the number 22 jersey, links up with 2015 Africa U20 Cup of Nations winner Ifeanyi Mathew at FC Zürich.
