Wolverhampton Wanderers interested in Super Eagles striker Iheanacho
Published: August 28, 2023Wolverhampton Wanderers are being linked with a possible move for Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho ahead of transfer deadline day.
According to Football Insider, Wolves have identified Iheanacho, as well as three other potential striker signings, as a realistic late-window target.
With the Nigeria national teamer in the final year of his contract at the King Power Stadium, it makes business sense to get him off the wage bill this summer and recoup part of the fee paid to Manchester City.
Iheanacho can sign a pre-contract with a team in January should he remain at Leicester City after the close of the window.
The 2013 Fifa U17 World Cup winner is seemingly in the plans of Leicester City's boss Enzo Maresca, considering the fact that he has started four of their five games in the new season.
He has directly participated in three goals this term, scoring and assisting in the League Cup win at Burton Albion before providing the assist for Leicester City's first goal at Rotherham United this past weekend.
It has been suggested that Iheanacho is keen on remaining at Leicester City beyond the close of the transfer window, meaning Wolverhampton Wanderers will have to persuade him to join the club.
In 196 appearances in the Premier League, Iheanacho has registered 42 goals while producing 28 assists.
