MLS player salaries: Messi earns 16 times more than Nigeria's highest paid player Nwobodo (full list)

Major League Soccer's Players Association has revealed the salary information for all MLS players under contract as of September 15, 2023 with the players salaries broken down into current annualized base salary and annualized average guaranteed compensation.
Argentina's World Cup-winning captain, Lionel Messi is the highest paid player in the MLS with a guaranteed compensation of
$20,446,667.00 (approximately N15.7 billion in Nigerian currency).
The Barcelona legend earns approximately sixteen times more than Nigeria's top earner in the league, Obinna Nwobodo.
FC Cincinnati midfielder, Nwobodo takes home a guaranteed $1,289,400.00 (approximately N988m), which is $705,775.00 more than FC Dallas' defender Sebastien Ibeagha who pockets $583,625 per year.
Behind Ibeagha is former Flying Eagles winger Ibrahim Aliyu, with the Houston Dynamo star earning $476,383.00 every year.
Completing the top five highest paid Nigerians are CF Montreal's Sunusi Ibrahim ($291,250.00) and Sporting Kansas City's Willy Agada ($271,875.00).
