'Moses has passed his peak' - Ex-Spartak chief does not think Inter are interested in former Chelsea star
Published: December 20, 2023Former General Director of Spartak Moscow, Sergei Shavlo has dismissed reports linking former Nigeria international Victor Moses with a return to Inter Milan.
There have been recent reports of the Serie A table-toppers wanting to reunite with the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner.
Moses played for the Nerazzurri in the second half of the 2019/2020 season, on loan from Chelsea, and helped the Italian giants reach the UEFA Europa League final where they lost to Sevilla.
The Crystal Palace academy product made a total of 20 appearances across all the competitions for Inter Milan during his short-term spell at the club and registered five assists.
While reacting to the news that the 33-year-old is being linked with last season's UEFA Champions League finalist, Shavlo said that the report is false and that the winger is not the player he used to be.
"Inter is fighting for the championship title and is close to it. I don't think Moses will strengthen them. This is apparently some kind of hoax. He is already aged, Moses has passed his peak. Now, I think Inter's squad is complete. If they take players, they will be younger and promising ones," Shavlo told Rusfootball.
"As for Moses, I repeat, I don't think that Inter is interested in him at the moment. In general, the age and level of the championship are different. In Serie A, I think it will be difficult for him."
Since leaving the San Siro in 2020, the former Super Eagles winger has been plying his trade with Russian Premier League side Spartak Moscow.
He initially joined on a loan deal but made his move permanent in the summer of 2021 and has made 78 appearances across all the competitions for the Red and Whites, recording twenty goal involvements (10, goals, 10 assists).
