Chelsea's Cobham product Lamptey, 13 others report for Black Stars duty pre-Nigeria
Published: March 19, 2024The Ghana Football Association have informed that fourteen players invited to the Black Stars training camp in Marrakech have reported for international duty.
The Black Stars are holding a training camp in Morocco ahead of upcoming friendly matches against Nigeria's Super Eagles and Uganda's Cranes.
Chelsea's Cobham product Tariq Lamptey is among the players in camp ahead of the friendly against the Super Eagles.
The Brighton & Hove defender is making a return to the squad after missing the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations due to injury.
A former England youth international, Lamptey switched his international allegiances to Ghana in 2022 and was part of the team that competed at the World Cup in Qatar.
Also in camp are: Joseph Wollacott, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Andre Ayew, Antoine Semenyo, Kassim Nuhu, Abdul Samed Salis, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Patrick Kpozo, Seidu Alidu, Ernest Nuamah, Jordan Ayew, and Denis Odoi.
Medeama SC defender Nurudeen Abdulai has already arrived in camp after receiving a late call-up, bringing the total number of Ghanaian players in camp to fourteen.
According to the press release by the Ghanaian Federation, the Black Stars opened camp on Monday, March 18 and did a workout at the team's hotel on Tuesday morning in preparation for the two games in Marrakech.
Manager Otto Addo and his assistants will put the players through their paces in their first proper training session this evening.
Ghana will take on fierce rivals Nigeria on Friday before facing the Cranes of Uganda on Tuesday, March 26.
