Fulham boss namechecks Awoniyi as he reveals the quality attack-minded players at Nottingham Forest
Published: April 01, 2024After his side's 3-3 draw at Sheffield United, manager Marco Silva was on media duties to preview Fulham's upcoming Premier League game against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
Nottingham Forest have managed just one win in their last ten Premier League games and currently occupy the 17th position with 22 points, sharing the same point tally as Luton Town, who are in 18th place.
Marco Silva has insisted that Nottingham Forest are better than their poor run suggests and highlighted that the two-time European champions have quality attack-minded players in their ranks.
Taiwo Awoniyi was one of the Forest forwards the Portuguese football manager namechecked as he discussed the players with individual quality.
The Nigeria international will not be available for selection in tomorrow's game against the Cottagers due to injury.
Awoniyi suffered an injury before the trip to Luton Town and was forced to withdraw from the Nigeria squad for a pair of internationals against Ghana and Mali.
"When you can play in your attacking line with [Chris] Wood, of course [Taiwo] Awoniyi is not ready, but after with [Anthony] Elanga, [Callum] Hudson-Odoi, [Morgan] Gibbs-White, [Divock] Origi, all these players they have around their attacking areas, you see the quality, the individual quality they have," Silva was quoted as saying by Fulham's official website.
"Of course, we are aware of it, it’s a game that is going to demand ourselves to be at our best level to be able to win the game."
This season, Awoniyi has already missed sixteen games in all competitions due to fitness issues, including thirteen in the Premier League.
