'Doesn't just come in one or two games' - Leicester City midfielder Ndidi admits he is not in tiptop condition
Published: April 05, 2024Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has admitted that he is yet to regain full fitness having just recovered from an injury which has kept him out of action for most part of the year.
The 27-year-old struggle with his fitness made him miss the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and was felt by Leicester City as they almost lost control of the English Championship in his absence.
He made his return in the Foxes' slim victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light and that made him fit enough to feature for the Super Eagles in the back-to-back friendly games against Ghana and Mali.
Ndidi has started the last four games for club and country which is quite much for a player who is just recovering from a long injury lay off and that has also affected his performances.
Speaking ahead of Leicester City's Championship clash with Birmingham at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, the Nigeria international revealed the true state of his physical condition.
"I'm getting closer to full fitness, but it comes slowly and gradually. It doesn't just come in one or two games.
"As we move forward, we'll see what happens in the future. If I'm in the team, I'll always do my best, but the fitness always comes game by game, as does the confidence also."he told Leicester City's official website
Enzo Maresca will need his star midfielder to rediscover his pre-injury form as the Foxes' seek to seal their promotion to the Premier League.
