Video: Watch Obi-Martin's five goals for Arsenal U18s in 8-1 win against West Ham
Published: April 14, 2024Danish-Nigerian striker Chido Obi-Martin scored five goals during Arsenal U18s 8-1 win against West Ham in a U18 Premier League clash played on Saturday.
He showed great footwork for his first goal, sitting the defender on his backside, gliding past another before he put the ball beyond the reach of West Ham goalkeeper.
The 16-year-old finished with aplomb for his second, putting Louis Zecevic John's pass home with a one-time finish in the 24th minute.
For his hat-trick, the Denmark youth international showed that his game wasn't all about finesse, having bullied the defender off the ball and dinked it over the goalkeeper.
His fourth was a simple finish from close range in the 40th minute after Louie Copley had won the ball high up the pitch.
The talented striker's fifth of the game came from a penalty he won, putting the ball precisely into the right corner to put Arsenal seven goals up.
Having scored five goals yesterday, Obi-Martin has equaled Rhys Murphy's record of most goals scored by a schoolboy for Arsenal U18s which the latter set in the 2006/2007 season.
He is now on course to equal USMNT striker Folarin Balogun' record for most goals scored for the U18s in a season, with the latter scoring 25 goals in the 2018/2019 campaign.
