5 goals, 6 assists: Ndidi takes his goal involvement to 11 as Leicester City beat West Brom
Published: April 20, 2024Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi was on target for Leicester City in their 2-1 win against West Brom at the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The 27-year-old took his tally to three league goals this season, tapping in the ball from close range past the opposition's goalkeeper which was the major talking point in the first period.
However, Jamie Vardy missed an opportunity to secure a comfortable lead for the Foxes from the penalty spot just before halftime.
Today's victory solidified the Foxes' push for Premier League promotion, widening their lead to two points ahead of second-placed Ipswich Town, with three matches remaining.
Meanwhile, Kelechi Iheanacho was not included in Leicester City's matchday squad, Semi Ajayi was an unused substitute in this encounter whilst Josh Maja was introduced into the game as a late substitute for West Brom's goalscorer Jed Wallace.
Ndidi has enjoyed a massive resurgence in form since transitioning from a defensive midfielder to a more attacking role in midfield, playing as a number eight under Enzo Maresca.
This slight tweak has seen him register eleven goal involvements (5 goals, 6 assists) in 33 all-competition appearances for Leicester City in the ongoing season.
The future of Ndidi has been a subject of speculation in England and Nigeria in recent weeks, with his contract at Leicester City set to run out on June 30, 2024.
