'Has been amazing' - Calvin Bassey lauds Marco Silva after Fulham's 10th clean sheet of the season
Published: May 04, 2024Nigeria internationals Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi were both in action for Fulham as they were forced to a goalless draw by Frank Onyeka's Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Central defender Tosin Adarabioyo remains out in the cold after deciding not to renew his contract which expires at the end of the season.
The Cottagers have now kept ten clean sheets in the 2023-2024 Premier League season and will be aiming to equal their highest tally since 2012 when they take on Manchester City next weekend.
With two games left to the end of the season, Fulham's Premier League survival is guaranteed but they are not in contention to finish in the European places as they are a massive ten points behind seventh-placed Manchester United.
Bassey was effusive in his praise for Fulham manager Marco Silva after the the game versus Brentford and believes the future is bright for the club with the Portuguese in the dugout.
In quotes relayed by the BBC, the left-footed central defender stated: "The disruption [of injuries] didn't help at times but we've all stayed focused and trusted the manager and the plan.
"What he's been building has been amazing so we're looking forward to the future.
"It's important we bring those principles and carry on what the manager has built here."
Since his return from the Africa Cup of Nations, Bassey has started all but one of the matches contested by Fulham in the English top-flight.
