Chuba Akpom comments on his future with Ajax amid Nottingham Forest and Fulham interest
Published: May 05, 2024Speaking after Ajax's 4-1 victory over FC Volendam on matchday 32 of the Eredivisie on Sunday,Chuba Akpom commented on his future with the four-time European champions.
The 28-year-old has found gametime hard to come by since joining Ajax last summer and has been recently linked with a move back to England with the duo of Nottingham Forest and Fulham confirmed to be interested in him.
Akpom has started just nine games across all competitions this term, and was only included in the starting lineup for the first time in a League game since March today and was on the scoresheet against Volendam.
The 28-year-old has not indicated whether he will leave Ajax after the season concludes and is unbothered with his inability to break into John van 't Schip starting lineup as he is concentrating on playing regardless of where it is.
"I don't know yet what the club wants. I just want to have fun and play football, it doesn't matter where. We have two more games to play and then we will see what will happen.he told ESPN via Voetbal International.
"I cannot predict the future. The most important thing is that I enjoy it. Whether I start or have to come from the bench, I do what I have to do."
He has now netted in back-to-back games in the Eredivisie and has been in a rich vein of form lately, scoring five goals and registering two assists in his last six League games.
Across all competitions this season, he has featured in 34 games and has 15 goals and two assists to his credit.
