Harrogate, Gillingham, Cheltenham, Southend United mulling over move for talented midfielder Adigun
Published: May 21, 2024Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively reported that several English Football League and National League clubs are monitoring the situation of promising attacking midfielder Jason Adigun.
The Anglo-Nigerian starlet is set to depart Charlton Athletic as a free agent upon the expiry of his contract on June 30, 2024.
National League side Southend United are interested in signing Adigun, while League Two clubs Harrogate Town, Gillingham and Cheltenham Town are mulling over a move for the 20-year-old.
He spent a portion of last season on loan at National League South club Welling United, where he put himself in the shop window by registering ten goal involvements (2 goals, 8 assists) in sixteen matches.
Charlton were keen on activating their 12-month option to extend Adigun's contract but he had already made up his mind to depart the Valley in search of first team opportunities.
He joined Charlton Athletic on schoolboy terms at U13 level and progressed through the ranks to sign his first professional contract in July 2022.
Adigun was a key member of the Charlton Athletic U18 side that reached the Professional Development League 2 play-off final in May 2021, and won the London Senior Cup with the development squad in 2023 and 2024.
The Addicks have retained Nigerian duo Chuks Aneke and Tayo Edun for the 2024-2025 season, Diallang Jaiyesimi is moving on to pastures new, while former Flying Eagles invitee Freddie Ladapo has returned to his parent club Ipswich Town following the expiration of his loan deal.
