Official: Leicester City confirm Iheanacho departure, in contract talks with Ndidi
Published: June 07, 2024According to a statement published on their official website, Leicester City have announced that Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho will leave the club upon the expiration of his contract at the end of this month.
The 2013 Fifa U17 World Cup Golden Ball winner joined Leicester City from Manchester City in 2017 on a five-year contract and made his debut against Arsenal in August of the same year.
His time at the King Power Stadium was full of ups and downs as he was in and out of the starting lineup under the different managers he played for while at the club.
He played a pivotal role in their FA Cup triumph in the 2020/2021 season, scoring four goals including a brace against Manchester United in the quarterfinals.
The 27-year-old will leave the club after winning three titles, making 232 appearances across all competitions and notching 95-goal involvements.
Conversely, the Foxes have announced that they are in discussion with Wilfred Ndidi over extending his stay at the club.
The 27-year-old's contract also ends at the end of this month but the one-time Premier League champions aren't ready to lose his services just yet.
He was instrumental in helping them regain promotion to the Premier League, featuring in 32 Championship games and recording four goals and five assists.
The Super Eagles midfielder has been linked with Spanish giants Barcelona, French power house Lyon as well as Everton, thus the Foxes have a tough task in their hands to tie him down to a new contract.
