Announcement imminent: Super Eagles-eligible winger signs new contract with Chelsea
Published: June 14, 2024English Premier League giants Chelsea are set to confirm that Super Eagles-eligible winger Tyrique George has committed his future to the club by putting pen to paper on a new contract.
Respected Italian transfer market reporter Fabrizio Romano posted on social media that the England U18 international of Nigerian signed a new contract with Chelsea on Friday.
The 18-year-old is highly regarded in the West London outfit's academy and is seen as one of its brightest and most promising prospects.
The Anglo-Nigerian starlet has been making waves in Chelsea's youth ranks, impressing coaches with his exceptional abilities.
Born in 2006, George is considered a huge talent for the future, and Chelsea have moved quickly to tie him down to a new deal.
George's impressive performances for Chelsea's U18 and U21 sides last season, where he scored 14 goals and provided 10 assists in 34 appearances combined in the U18 Premier League, FA Youth Cup, EFL Trophy and FA Youth Cup, has earned him a high reputation in the club's famed Cobham academy.
Although he is yet to make his first-team debut, George was named on the bench for Premier League matches against Everton, Aston Villa, and Tottenham Hotspur in the season run-in.
George was nominated for Chelsea's Goal of the Month five consecutive times between October 2023 to March 2024, and was in the running for the club's Goal of the Season accolade.
