PL opening day fixtures: Iwobi, Onyeka, Aribo, Aina, Olise, Tosin, Solanke discover opponents
Published: June 18, 2024Through its official website, the Premier League has published the fixtures and dates for all the 380 matches that will be played in the English top-flight for the 2023/2024 campaign.
Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey's Fulham will start the season on August 16 against Manchester United at Old Trafford- the Nigerian duo scored in the same fixture last season and it will be interesting to see if they do so again.
Brentford will start with a tie against Crystal Palace at the Gtech Community Stadium, a game which could feature Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka and Super Eagles-eligible forward Michael Olise provided either or both of them don't move elsewhere in the current transfer window.
Taiwo Awoniyi and Ola Aina's Nottingham Forest will host Dominic Solanke's AFC Bournemouth at the City Ground in the opening weekend of the season.
Awoniyi and Solanke have been linked with an exit from Forest and the Cherries respectively, so there is a possibility both or either may not feature in this fixture.
Joe Aribo and Samuel Edozie's Southampton's side who are staging in return to the Premier League have a date with Newcastle at the St. James' Park on matchday one.
Tosin Adarabioyo could make his debut for Chelsea against Manchester City at the Stamford Bridge with the clash both teams being the first fixture among the traditional big six.
Carney Chukwuemeka, Noni Madueke and Lesley Ugochukwu could also make their first appearance against new Blues' boss, Enzo Maresca in the tie.
