History repeating itself: Crystal Palace offer new deal to ex-Super Eagles invitee amid Chelsea interest
Published: June 20, 2024Crystal Palace are attempting to fend off interest from Chelsea and other European clubs in Michael Olise by offering the 2021 Super Eagles invitee a new contract.
A year ago, the Cobham product came close to sealing a return to Chelsea but the deal collapsed at the last minute after it was alleged that the west-London club violated transfer rules and etiquette.
Olise was offered a new contract last summer, extending his stay at Selhurst Park until June 30, 2027.
According to transfer market guru Fabrizio Romano, Crystal Palace are determined to keep Olise for next season and have offered him a new deal that guarantees him more money and also the chance to move in the summer of 2025 via a release clause.
The Italian reporter added that Chelsea plus Newcastle United and Bayern Munich have been given permission to speak to the quad-national winger to discuss personal terms.
Despite recurring injury problems, Olise scored an impressive ten goals while registering six assists in nineteen appearances in the Premier League over the course of the 2023-2024 season.
Chelsea have been trying to sign their former player for a while and are currently in talks with the forward's representatives.
The 22-year-old is also on the radar of Premier League champions Manchester City and their city rivals Manchester United.
Olise is permitted to end his association with Crystal Palace this summer due to the £60m release clause in his current contract with the Eagles.
