Old Trafford bound? Report claims Man Utd are in pole position to sign Dutch-Nigerian striker
Published: June 23, 2024Manchester United have reportedly leapfrogged AC Milan in the race to sign Super Eagles-eligible striker Joshua Zirkzee.
This follows a report from Sky Sports which stated that AC Milan have begun exploring alternatives to the 23-year-old, one of which is former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham.
The Rossoneri have long been linked with the talented forward and have indicated their intention to pay his release clause but have been put off by the demands of his agent Kia Joorabchian.
Joorabchian's €15m commission is deemed too excessive by the Italian giants and may now be ready to walk away from the deal, as per the report.
This has put the Old Trafford outfit in front of the race to sign the striker who has been deemed a priority target in the current transfer window by the club's hierarchy..
The Red Devils need to bolster their attacking options if they are to compete on all fronts next season, following the struggles of their attackers in front of goal last term.
Having helped Bologna qualify for the UEFA Champions League, Zirkzee could help add more bite to the attack of Manchester United.
He has previously been linked with Arsenal but it appears the North London side have set their sights elsewhere.
