Osimhen deal: Napoli willing to accept Mason Greenwood plus cash from Manchester United
Published: June 24, 2024Having struggled for goals in the Premier League last season, it is not surprising to see Manchester United wanting to add more attacking prowess to their squad this summer and have been linked with a host of strikers including Victor Osimhen.
According to La Repubblica via Spazio Napoli, Napoli would be willing to accept an offer from that includes Mason Greenwood heading in the opposite direction to sweeten a proposed deal for Victor Osimhen.
The Old Trafford outfit want to dispose of Greenwood this summer despite prosecutors dropping the rape case brought against him last year and are ready to listen to offers for him.
The England international has been linked with a move to Juventus and Lazio as well as Napoli, having impressed in his loan term with Spanish La Liga side Getafe.
The Parthenopeans' Sporting Director Giovanni Manna reportedly likes Greenwood and that could give Manchester United an opportunity to include him in a player-plus-cash deal for Osimhen.
The 25-year-old wants to move to the Premier League but no club is ready to sanction a move for him at the moment due to his €130m release clause.
If he is to depart for a Premier League team this summer, Napoli might need to soften their position on demanding the full release clause.
Accepting an offer that includes Greenwood, a player they admire, plus cash could be advantageous for them.
By doing so, they would be getting a talented player though not as good as Osimhen and will have money that can be used in pursuit of other transfer targets.
