AC Milan reignite interest in Chelsea's Super Eagles-eligible midfielder
Published: June 28, 2024
According to Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, AC Milan are considering a move for Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka.
The Italian giants are aiming to strengthen their midfield this summer and have identified potential targets, including Chukwuemeka and French international Youssouf Fofana.
The Rossoneri have been a long-time admirer of the England-youth international and are ready to test the waters once again to grab his signature.
They would be hoping to use the existing relationship between them and Chelsea to facilitate a deal, having signed Christian Pulisic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek from the English outfit last summer.
Chukwuemeka moved to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2022 but has struggled to get enough game time due to his form and struggles with injuries, particularly in the last campaign.
He started the season in fine form, scoring in the London derby against West Ham but had his momentum blighted by injuries which limited him to just 12 appearances across all competitions.
With the arrival of Enzo Maresca as Chelsea's new manager, it remains to be seen what the plan is for the 20-year-old.
The Blues have been linked with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall who worked with Maresca at Leicester City which indicates that they plan on getting a new midfielder which may further reduce Chukwuemeka's chances of getting enough game time.
