'I can tell you' - Fabrizio Romano reveals Osimhen wants a dream move to Premier League
Published: July 01, 2024Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is leaning towards a move to the English Premier League as clubs vie for his signature ahead of the upcoming season.
The Nigerian forward, who commands a release clause in the region of €120 million in his Napoli contract, has garnered significant interest from several top clubs across Europe, including Arsenal, Manchester United, and PSG.
Despite the keen interest, no formal bids have yet been submitted for the 22-year-old, prompting uncertainty about his future with Napoli.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano addressed the situation on his YouTube channel, noting that both Napoli and Osimhen anticipate a departure this summer. Romano hinted at potential developments in July as clubs gear up for pre-season activities.
"Now we are entering July. The pre-season is about to start. But the feeling between Victor Osimhen and Napoli has not changed.
"Osimhen is still expected to leave Napoli this summer. The plan has not changed. The situation is very quiet so far but there could be movement around Osimhen already in July.
"Let's see what happens for all the clubs looking for a striker in the market," Romano revealed.
He also shed light on Victor Osimhen's aspirations for a Premier League move amidst escalating transfer speculations.
"I can tell you the dream of the player remains in England. The dream of the player is to go to the Premier League. He is giving priority to Premier League clubs. Waiting to see if there will be movement."
Romano hinted at a potential shift in Napoli's stance regarding Osimhen's release clause, suggesting the Serie A outfit might entertain alternative proposals from interested parties.
"Probably Napoli could be open to accepting a package different from the 120 million euros release clause," Romano disclosed.
"In case they drop the price, for many clubs it could be a big opportunity for Victor Osimhen."
Since joining from Lille in 2020, Osimhen has scored 65 goals and provided 16 assists in 108 league matches for Napoli.
