Striker-turned-goalkeeper Okonkwo agrees new deal with Arsenal ahead of 2024-25 season
Published: July 01, 2024Allnigeriasoccer.com has been told that Arsenal will announce in the coming days that talented Nigerian goalkeeper Brian Okonkwo has signed a new deal with the club.
Arsenal's development squad resumed preparations for the 2024-2025 campaign at Sobha Realty Training Centre on Monday, July 1, with Okonkwo part of the group, fueling speculation that he has accepted the Gunners' offer of a new deal.
Allnigeriasoccer.com can report with certainty that Brian Okonkwo has agreed a new contract at Arsenal, and only an official announcement is pending.
Brian Okonkwo signing his first professional contract is a big boost to Arsenal ahead of the forthcoming season, especially with the departures of four promising goalkeepers Hubert Graczyk, James Hillson, Ovie Ejeheri and Arthur Okonkwo, who officially ended their association with the club on Sunday, June 30.
Brian initially initially started out his career as a striker before he was converted into a goalkeeper.
He joined Arsenal on schoolboy terms at the age of ten following a successful trial arranged by an Arsenal scout who worked at his Sunday team, Pro Touch.
The 18-year-old has enjoyed loan spells at non-league clubs Hitchin Town, Leatherhead and Cheshunt
Last season, Okonkwo made his debut for Arsenal U21s in the Premier League 2 and also represented the youth team in the U18 Premier League.
