Crystal Palace, Leeds United, Torino, Hoffenheim interested in left-footed Super Eagles CB
Published: July 02, 2024German-born Nigeria international Jordan Torunarigha is strongly linked with a departure from Belgian outfit KAA Gent in the summer transfer window.
According to the online edition of German newspaper Bild, the central defender's impressive performances in last season's Jupiler Pro League and Europa Conference League have not gone unnoticed by European clubs.
The report added that Serie A side Torino, English duo Crystal Palace and Leeds United, and Bundesliga club Hoffenheim are interested in signing the left-footed centre-back.
In the January transfer window, VfB Stuttgart wanted to acquire Torunarigha after Dan-Axel Zagadou tore his cruciate ligament, but their last-minute request on transfer deadline day was too late for Gent to sign a replacement.
The 26-year-old has been an undisputed starter for Gent since his arrival at the club from Hertha Berlin in 2022.
He has appeared in 104 official matches for The Buffalos, including 94 starts, and won the Belgian Cup in 2021-2022.
Last season, Torunarigha registered a top speed of 35 kilometers per hour, bettered by only three central defenders in the Belgian top-flight.
On the international stage, he made his Super Eagles debut in a friendly against Mozambique in October 2023 and was named in Nigeria's provisional squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Torunarigha, who has one year left on his contract, has resumed pre-season training at KAA Gent.
