Left-footed Flying Eagles-eligible forward signs new deal with West Ham United
Published: July 03, 2024
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Flying Eagles-eligible player Favour Fawunmi has ended speculation about his future by signing a new contract with English Premier League club West Ham United.
This website can report with certainty that the Hammers, in the coming days, will confirm that Fawunmi and central midfielder Tyron Akpata have both put pen to paper on new deals.
Fawunmi tried his luck at Queens Park Rangers in February, featuring as a trialist in a Professional Development League fixture against Bristol City at TSG Elite Training Center, but a deal did not materialize.
The left-footed forward's stellar performances following his return from trials at Queens Park Rangers led the Hammers to reverse their decision to release him.
Fawunmi joined West Ham at U15 level and made his debut in the U18 Premier League in his final season as a schoolboy.
The 18-year-old signed scholarship terms with the Londoners before the start of the 2022-2023 season and made two appearances in the Premier League 2 as a first year scholar.
He has been described as a winger who has lot of pace and trickery and also dominant in one-to-one situations.
Fawunmi was a member of West Ham U18s squad that won the FA Youth Cup in 2022-2023, but was a non-playing substitute in the showpiece versus Arsenal.
