Official: Five teenagers of Nigerian descent sign deals with Norwich City
Published: July 03, 2024
Five teenagers of Nigerian descent have signed contracts with Championship club Norwich City ahead of the 2024-2025 season.
The Canaries announced the new intake of academy scholars on Wednesday with three Golden Eaglets players part of the group, namely Victor Madu, Finlay Oligbo and Oser Okpiabhele.
The midfielders all made their debuts for the Canaries in the U18 Premier League in their final season as schoolboys.
For the upcoming season, the aforementioned players have been promoted to Norwich City U18 squad on a permanent basis and will be aiming to sign their first professional contracts after they turn 17.
The Canaries have bolstered their development squad by signing 18-year-old German-Nigerian right-back Harmony Okwumo, who has joined the club on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Charlton Athletic.
Okwumo has signed professional terms with Norwich City following a successful trial.
During his four-year association with Charlton Athletic, he demonstrated his ability to play in the right back and right wing-back positions.
The fifth Nigerian player to sign a deal with Norwich City is highly-rated striker Ken Aboh.
Aged 19, Aboh is now committed to the club until June 30, 2027, with a club option for the 2027-2028 season.
He made his first team debut for the Canaries during the 2023-2024 season, coming off the bench in a 5-0 victory over Rotherham United.
