Report: Man City's Nigerian talent spotter Fagbemi will not follow Glenn van Der Kraan to Chelsea
Published: July 05, 2024According to The Secret Scout, Manchester City's Nigerian talent spotter Sam Fagbemi is set to stay with the Citizens and will not join Glenn van Der Kraan in moving to Chelsea.
The Blues are trying to revamp their Academy set up and want to get the best hands to do so which led to the poaching of van Der Krann from Chelsea.
It has been suggested that Fagbemi could also follow van Der Kraan to West London but that has now been proven to be untrue with the Nigerian said to be happy with his role at Manchester City.
This isn't the first time that he will be linked with an exit as there were reports in 2019 that he could join Mikel Arteta at Arsenal as the North London side wanted an improvement on their recruitment of youngsters during that period.
He had previously worked with the Gunners, serving as a video scout for the youth academy before leaving for Manchester City in 2017.
Since moving to Manchester City, he has played a key role in helping the club assemble the best youngsters which is evident in their successes.
Since joining the Premier League defending champions, the U18s have won the League on multiple occasions and are the current holders of the FA Youth Cup.
He played a key role in the signing of Anglo-Nigerian forward Sam Edozie who is now on the books of Southampton, Romeo Lavia who joined Chelsea last summer, and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens.
