Sampdoria on brink of deal for Inter Milan's Nigerian-born midfielder
Published: July 09, 2024Sampdoria are reportedly on the verge of loaning in promising Nigerian-born midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro from Inter Milan, according to transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio.
The young talent joined Inter Milan in 2023 after impressing at the Viareggio Cup, where his standout performances caught the attention of the Italian giants.
Akinsanmiro, 19, showcased his skills at the tournament, scoring three goals in seven appearances and playing every minute of the competition.
His efforts helped Remo Stars to the final, where they narrowly lost to Sassuolo in a penalty shootout. This impressive display led to Inter Milan securing Akinsanmiro’s permanent transfer for approximately 466 thousand euros.
Since his move to Italy, Akinsanmiro has continued to impress in the Primavera 1 with Inter’s youth side.
His outstanding performances earned him a debut with the first team on February 25, 2024, in a 4-0 league victory over Lecce, where he came on as a substitute for Davide Frattesi.
In search of more playing time among professional footballers, Akinsanmiro is on his way to Serie B side Sampdoria, who are keen to bolster their squad as they aim for promotion to the top-flight in the next campaign.
A move to Serie B would offer Akinsanmiro more opportunities to play regular professional football after a successful season with the youth team.
He notched six goals and provided five assists in 37 appearances in the Primavera 1, highlighting his potential and readiness for the next step in his career.
Sampdoria’s potential signing of Akinsanmiro is seen as a strategic move to enhance their chances of promotion, with the Nigerian midfielder expected to add quality and depth to the squad.
