Newcastle United on brink of deal for Danish-Nigerian forward
Published: August 02, 2024Denmark U21 international of Nigerian descent William Osula is being linked with an imminent transfer to Premier League club Newcastle United.
According to Sky Sports, the Magpies are in advanced talks with Sheffield United over the signing of the young forward.
Negotiations have focused on a deal involving a payment of ten million pounds , with the possibility of an additional £5m in performance-related add-ons, meaning he could end up costing fifteen million pounds.
Although he was born in Copenhagen to a Danish mother and Nigerian father, the dual-national attacker is classed as a homegrown player by the Premier League, as he has been on the books of the Blades for six years.
Osula has a bit of Premier League experience, with 21 games under his belt during the 2023-2024 season as Sheffield United suffered relegation.
The 20-year-old has caught the eye in pre-season, netting in back-to-back games against York City and Chesterfield.
If all goes according to plan, he will put pen to paper on a multi-year contract with Newcastle United.
Osula spent a portion of the 2022-2023 season on loan at Derby County, where he netted five goals in 21 all-competition appearances.
The former FC Copenhagen youth teamer has a contract with the Blades until June 30, 2027.
