Is Lookman on the brink of PSG move? Super Eagles star not called up for Atalanta's Serie A opener
Published: August 18, 2024Ademola Lookman will miss Atalanta's Serie A opening match against Lecce at Stadio Comunale Via del Mare on Monday evening as he was omitted from the 23-man squad named by the club for the clash.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the omission of the Super Eagles forward may not be unconnected to his link to French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
He also missed Atalanta's last training session ahead of tomorrow's clash and it is unsurprising that he isn't going to feature against Lecce.
The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations star was excluded alongside Toon Koopmeiners and El Bilal Touré, all of whom are being linked with an exit from the Gewiss Stadium and as a result have been excused for the encounter against the Yellow and Reds.
Lookman enjoyed a brilliant end to last campaign, helping Atalanta to their first ever UEFA Europa League crown by scoring a hat-trick in the final against Bayer Leverkusen.
His performance in one of Europe's biggest games caught the attention of Premeir League and Bundesliga clubs but none of the two clubs have made a bid for the Charlton Athletic academy product
PSG are the latest side to be linked with the Nigeria international with the club looking to bolster their squad after the departure of Kylian Mbappé though it remains to be seen how strong their interest is.
