After scoring in two games in a row against Man Utd, Solanke insists Tottenham are not scared
Published: September 29, 2024
Dominic Solanke has declared that Tottenham Hotspur are not scared to face Manchester United in the Premier League fixture coming up today at Old Trafford.
After failing to find the back of the net in his first three games, the Super Eagles-eligible striker has now netted in back-to-back games and beaming with confidence.
The 27-year-old arrival at Tottenham Hotspurcame with a lot of expectations, having been deemed as the successor to Harry Kane and his huge transfer fee, which makes him the most expensive acquisition in the club's history.
So, it came as no surprise when he started getting criticism after failing to score in his first set of games, but he has been able to silence the critics with his goals against Brentford last weekend and Qarabag in the UEFA Europa League.
Solanke will be heading into today's clash with confidence and is relishing the opportunity to face Manchester United and also revealing Spurs' preparedness to face Erik ten Hag's side
"We are not scared of anyone so we will go there and be on the front foot. One of the reasons why I was so delighted to come to Tottenham was the play style," Solanke said to The Guardian UK.
"It suits me. I love it. When the team is playing well, we can dominate games. The way that we play will create chances for me."
He has scored against the record Premier League champions twice, and that came last season, scoring first at the Vitality Stadium and then netting once again at Old Trafford.
Ange Postecoglou didn't lose to Manchester United last season, winning the first leg at home and drawing the away fixture and with the help of Solanke, he will be hoping to secure his first victory at Old Trafford as Spurs' manager.
