Atalanta, AC Milan, Brentford made enquiries to sign Spanish-Nigerian attacker after failed move to Chelsea

2024 Olympics gold medalist of Nigerian descent, Samu Omorodion has made a blistering start to his career at Porto with four goals in his first four matches.

The Portuguese giants signed the dual-national attacker on a five-year contract after a failed move to Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

The proposed deal would have seen the former Atlético de Madrid striker join Chelsea on a seven-year contract for a fee of 40 million euros, with Conor Gallagher moving in the opposite director for a similar fee.

The deal fell through despite the player undergoing a medical because Chelsea failed to reach a club-to-club agreement with their Spanish counterparts.

According to Relevo, Real Sociedad were in advanced talks to sign Omorodion after the move to Chelsea collapsed but talks between the White and Blues and Atlético de Madrid were halted at the last minute.

The Spanish sports website has confirmed that Atalanta, AC Milan and Brentford made enquiries to sign the Spanish-Nigerian youngster but Porto won the race for his signature after guaranteeing him a key role in the club's project.

The Bees had been in the market for a center forward as a replacement for club icon Ivan Toney, who later joined Al-Ahli on deadline day in England.

Omorodion moved from Atlético Madrid to Porto in exchange for 15 million euros for 50% of his economic rights.

The Melilla native has a release clause of 100 million euros and and two non-obligatory purchase options of a further 15% for €5 million each.

Interim Nigeria manager Augustine Eguavoen is believed to be keeping tabs on Omorodion but the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations winner has a tough task on his hands convincing the striker to switch his allegiance to Nigeria as he's also on the radar of Spain manager Luis de la Fuente Castillo.
