England squads announcement: Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham players among 8 Nigerians called up
Published: October 04, 2024The English Football Association have announced the Three Lions, Young Lions and Young Lionesses rosters ahead of international matches in October, with eight Nigeria-eligible players called up.
The big news is that Tottenham Hotspur striker Dominic Solanke has earned a recall to the Three Lions, approximately seven years after making his senior debut in a goalless draw with Brazil back in 2017.
The Chelsea academy product will be cap-tied to his country of birth should he make his competitive debut against Greece or Finland.
Arsenal midfielder Omotara Junaid and Manchester City forward Jane Oboavwoduo have been selected in the Young Lionesses squad for this month's 2024 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.
England will face Kenya, Mexico and Korea DPR in the group phase of the 2024 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.
Junaid and Oboavwoduo have earned spots in the team after starring at the UEFA Women's Under-17 Championship five months ago.
England U19s coach Will Antwi has included Arsenal's history-making attacking midfielder Ethan Nwaneri, the youngest player to feature in the top flight of English football, in a 23-man squad for a training camp in Spain.
As part of their preparations for the U19 Euro qualifiers in November, England will take on Portugal, Netherlands and France in friendly matches at the Marbella Football Centre.
Liam Bramley, coach of England U18s, has included four highly-rated players of Nigerian descent in his squad list for a four-team tournament in Marbella.
They are West Ham defender Chukwuemeka Adiele, Chelsea centre-back Olutayo Subuloye, Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Callum Olusesi and Newcastle United forward Trevan Sanusi.
