What Nottingham Forest coach Nuno Espirito Santo said about Ola Aina's stunning goal against West Ham
Published: November 02, 2024Nottingham Forest coach Nuno Espírito Santo has spoken about Ola Aina's spectacular strike in his side's 3-0 triumph over West Ham United in the Premier League fixture played at the City Ground this afternoon.
The Super Eagles fullback scored a cracking goal in the 78th minute of the tie, drifting past his markers before unleashing a magnificent effort into the top left corner to round up the scoring for the home side.
The 28-year-old doesn't have an impressive goalscoring record, and that is unsurprising for a defender as the last time he scored was in the 2-0 victory over Aston Villa last term.
His strike against the Hammers was his fourth ever in the Premier League, and he will be hoping to beat his personal best-scoring record in a season in the competition, which was in the 2020/2021 campaign when he scored two goals.
Speaking to Nottingham Forest FC YouTube channel, Espírito hailed the Coham Academy product for his goal
"I think we have been many mentioned this many times, having more goals from inside of the team , can come from a set piece.
"We had good situations. I think Nico had a good situation from Lucas Fabianski, even the Soza one. So we are delighted that almost every player starts to giving the belief that he can the team with goals.
"This is very positive and a beautiful goal from Ola Aina."
Aina is one of the few players to have made 10 appearances in the Premier League this term, solidifying his position as a key player at Forest.
The Nigeria international is in talks with Nottingham Forest over a new four-year deal, with the current agreement between club and player ending at the end of the 2024-2025 season.
