Ola Aina joins Chelsea and Tottenham stars in BBC's Premier League Team of the Week
Published: November 05, 2024Super Eagles right-back Ola Aina has been recognized for his performance in Nottingham Forest's triumph over West Ham United with BBC pundit Troy Deeney naming him in the Premier League Team of the Week.
The Nottingham Forest fullback joins Tottenham Hotspur stars Radu Drăgușin, Dominic Solanke, Chelsea midfielder Moisés Caicedo and seven others in the team.
The 28-year-old put up a massive shift to help Nuno Espírito Santo's side maintain their incredible start to the season, which has seen them move up to 3rd in the standings, sitting ahead of Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United.
Aina is one of the few players in the Premier League to have played 10 games in the competition this term and has only failed to complete 90 minutes twice, which was in the opening game against AFC Bournemouth and last weekend's fixture with the Hammers.
Recognizing the consistency and outstanding performance of the Nigeria international, Forest are keen to hand him a contract extension, with his current deal set to expire next summer.
Aina is the only Forest player to have been named in Deeney's Team of the Week, with Bournemouth having the most representatives with three players, Southampton and Spurs with two apiece, while Chelsea, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Newcastle United have one, respectively.
In a 4-3-3 formation, the team consists:
Goalkeeper: Aaron Ramsdale (Southampton)
Defenders: Aina (Nottingham Forest), Drăgușin (Tottenham), Taylor Harwood-Bellis (Southampton), Adam Smith(Bournemouth)
Midfielders: Caicedo (Chelsea), Lewis Cook (Bournemouth), João Gomes (Wolves)
Forwards: Solanke (Tottenham), Antoine Semenyo (Bournemouth), Anthony Gordon (Newcastle)
