17yo London-born Nigerian midfielder named in Tottenham's travelling squad for UEL clash v Galatasaray
Published: November 06, 2024Talented London-born Nigerian central midfielder Callum Latif Olusesi was spotted among the Tottenham Hotspur travelling squad for the UEFA Europa League clash with Galatasaray at the RAMS Park on Thursday.
Spurs are seeking to maintain their impeccable start in the competition that has seen them amass nine points from the opening three games but face an injury crisis ahead of tomorrow's tie with Turkish giants.
Richarlison and Cristian Romero were brought off in the massive victory over Aston Villa, adding to Micky van de Ven, Djed Spence, and Wilson Odobert on the treatment table.
This has necessitated Ange Postecoglou to call upon some of the club's youngsters for tomorrow's fixture with Olusesi being one.
The 17-year-old is in a good run of form, scoring three goals in the Premier League 2 this term, one of which includes his strike in the victory over Arsenal at Meadow Park last month.
Olusesi has yet to feature in any competition for the first team and has yet to make the matchday squad, and tomorrow could be a special day in his career if he is named in the team to face Galatasaray.
Damola Ajayi was in the squad that faced Ferencváros last month, and Olusesi could be the next Nigerian youngster to get named on Spurs' team sheet in the competition this term.
An England youth international, Olusesi signed his first professional contract at Tottenham Hotspur in March 2024.
