Chelsea central defender not selected for England amid interest from Nigeria
Published: November 07, 2024Lee Carsley has named his final squad as caretaker coach of England's national team, the Three Lions, ahead of UEFA Nations League matches against Greece and Republic of Ireland, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
German tactician Thomas Tuchel has been appointed as the new England coach from next January, and has put pen to paper on an eighteen-month contract.
London-born central defender Tosin Adarabioyo is still there for the taking as he has not been named in the Three Lions squad.
There's interest from the Nigeria Football Federation in Tosin as former coach Jose Peseiro previously initiated discussions with the dual-national player before the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Speculation has been rife over the international future of Tosin since his transfer to Chelsea in the summer window.
The Manchester City academy graduate has no decision to make regarding his international future for the time being because he has not yet received a call-up from either Nigeria or England.
Tosin has yet to force his way into Chelsea's starting lineup, but he has impressed whenever manager Enzo Maresca has given him a chance to play.
Lee Carsley has picked three forwards of Nigeria descent in his squad list, namely Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke and Dominic Solanke who are all cap-tied to England.
Former Nigeria Football Federation targets Eberechi Eze, Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham have not been named in the 26-man squad announced on Thursday afternoon.
