Moses Simon's talk-of-the-town goal earns him a spot in Ligue 1 Team of the Week

Moses Simon has been named in Whoscored.com's French Ligue 1 Team of the Week, following his brilliant game-winning strike that secured all three points for Nantes in a 1-0 win over Stade Rennais FC at Stade de la Beaujoire on Sunday, December 8, allnigeriasoccer.com reports. 

Several fans took to social media to praise the Nigeria international for his eye-catching goal, which proved to be the difference against Rennes. 

The goal also caught the attention of local media, with terms like 'stunning', 'wonder strike', 'superb' and 'spectacular' being used to describe it.

In the 89th minute, Simon weaved his way past three Rennes players before curling a right-footed shot into the top corner.

In a 4-4-2 formation, the Nantes star is partnered in attack by Lille's Jonathan David, while the midfielders are 
Rayan Cherki (Lyon), Mason Greenwood (Marseille), Lamine Camara (Monaco) and Aleksandr Golovin (Monaco).

Goalkeeper Donovan Léon (Auxerre) is protected by a back four consisting of Achraf Hakimi (Paris Saint-Germain), Wilfried Singo (Monaco), Jubal (Auxerre) and Nicolás Tagliafico (Lyon).

Simon registered two shots, one of which found the back of the net, made a game-high four key passes, and was the top dribbler with five successful take-ons, earning a rating of 8.52.

The 29-year-old also contributed defensively, making one tackle and two clearances. 

Thanks to Simon's brilliant strike, the Canaries secured their first victory since August 31, ending a ten-game winless streak that included four draws and six losses.
