Janis Chime: 16yo midfielder eligible for Super Falcons makes senior debut for Charlton Athletic
Published: December 09, 2024Talented midfielder eligible for Super Falcons, Janis Chime made her senior debut for Charlton Athletic against Lewes in the third round of the Adobe Women's FA Cup on Sunday, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
In a surprising move, Addicks manager Karen Hills included Chime in the matchday squad, placing her on the bench alongside Princess Ademiluyi, another teenager of Nigerian descent who recently became provisionally cap-tied to England.
However, the inclusion was justified, given the 16-year-old's impressive form for the Addicks U21s since the beginning of the 2024-2025 season.
Her stunning strike against Crystal Palace U21s earned her a spot among the six nominees for Charlton Athletic's Goal of the Month award for October 2024.
Charlton had the game sewn up after 70 minutes, with Ellie Brazil (2), Gracie Pearse and Kayleigh Barton putting their names on the scoresheet.
With the outcome of the game all but decided, Chime, wearing the number 38 on the back of her jersey, came on in place of Karin Muya.
After making her competitive debut for the Addicks, Chime has set her sights on playing her first game in the Women's Championship.
