'Not available' - Leicester manager Ruud van Nistelrooy confirms Ndidi will miss Wolves clash
Published: December 20, 2024Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy addressed the media on Friday, and shared a squad update before his side's Premier League meeting with Wolverhampton Wanderers at the King Power Stadium.
The Manchester United legend confirmed that Wilfred Ndidi is not in contention to return to the gameday squad for the visit of Wolves.
The Nigeria national teamer was forced off injured early in the second half as Leicester City came from two goals down to earn a dramatic draw against Brighton & Hove on December 8.
He missed last weekend's game against Newcastle United due to an ailment that has since been diagnosed as a hamstring injury.
Although Ndidi has started his rehabilitation, the match against Wolverhampton Wanderers has come too soon for him.
In quotes relayed by the official webpage of the Foxes, Van Nistelrooy explained: "Harry has been fully a part of team training. He’s available for selection again which is very positive news for the team, for the squad.
"Wilfred is in his rehab. He’s not on the pitch so he’s not available for selection."
Ndidi's absence is a significant blow for Ruud van Nistelrooy as he is a key player in the squad, having started all of Leicester City's matches in this season's Premier League before his spell on the sidelines.
Without Ndidi in the squad, Leicester City suffered their heaviest defeat of the season, losing 4-0 to Newcastle United.
Hamza Choudhury and Oliver Skipp started as the double pivot in midfield during the loss to the Magpies.
