Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has named young midfielder Ethan Nwaneri among the potential options to replace Bukayo Saka on the right wing, following the injury suffered by England international Bukayo Saka.
Saka, a pivotal player in Arsenal's title challenge, suffered a setback during the Gunners' emphatic 5-1 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday evening at Selhurst Park.
The injury is expected to keep the former Nigeria Football Federation target sidelined for many weeks.
Nwaneri has been a revelation for the Gunners since the start of the Premier League campaign, captivating fans with his exceptional skills, creativity, and a keen eye for goal.
The 17-year-old has found the back of the net four times in 16 appearances across all competitions, solidifying his role as an integral part of Arsenal's first team.
Arteta, speaking ahead of Arsenal's clash with Ipswich Town, acknowledged the significant loss of Saka but expressed confidence in the depth of his squad.
He mentioned four candidates, including Nwaneri, who could step up to fill the void.
"Gabby has played there, Ethan has played there, Leo can play there in relation to how that unit moves,"Arteta was quoted as saying by Arsenal's official website.
"Kai can play there, asking him different things. So, We'll see, try to speak to them as well and understand how they feel about it."
The absence of Saka could open up more opportunities for Nwaneri to showcase his talent and convince Arteta of his readiness to perform consistently at the highest level.
