'His numbers are great' - Ex-Liverpool winger urges Chelsea to sign prolific striker Osimhen

Former Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant has called on Chelsea to make a move for Victor Osimhen, stating that the Nigerian striker's clinical finishing could be the solution to the Blues' scoring problems.

Pennant, speaking to talkSPORT, highlighted Osimhen's ability to find the back of the net consistently, which he believes would make an immediate impact at Stamford Bridge.

"Osimhen would change things for Chelsea without a shout of a doubt," Pennant said.

"He knows how to put the ball in the back of the net. His numbers are flying in, his numbers are great.”

The 26-year-old forward, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Italian giants Napoli, has been in scintillating form.

Osimhen’s impressive goal-scoring record has made him one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe.

He has demonstrated his prowess in front of goal, becoming one of the most prolific attackers in recent seasons.

This ability has earned him rave reviews, and Pennant believes his potential arrival at Chelsea could be a game-changer.

Pennant compared Osimhen’s natural goal-scoring instincts to Chelsea's current striker, Nicolas Jackson.

"I’m gonna look back to Jackson and how many chances he gets a game, but the conversion rate isn’t great," he noted.

"He can have three or four clear-cut chances, and he won’t put any of them away."

Chelsea has struggled with their finishing this season, often failing to convert opportunities into goals.

As a result, they have dropped points in matches where they should have secured victories.

Pennant's comments underscore this ongoing concern, as he pointed out how frustrating it can be to watch a team waste chances.

"You’re scratching your head, thinking about how Chelsea come away with a draw or a loss," Pennant added.

"I think someone like Osimhen, who is prolific in front of goal, would boost Chelsea or boost any team."

Osimhen has already made an impact for both his club and country. Last Friday, he scored a brace in Nigeria’s 2-0 victory over Rwanda in Kigali.

His goals played a key role in securing the win for the Super Eagles in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

Osimhen's ability to rise to the occasion in important fixtures highlights why he is regarded as one of the most dangerous strikers in world football today.

His physical presence, speed, and clinical finishing would provide a much-needed boost to a Chelsea team struggling to convert chances.

While Osimhen's future remains uncertain, with his loan at Galatasaray set to expire soon, many believe it is only a matter of time before he makes a high-profile move.

Chelsea, who have spent heavily in recent transfer windows, could see Osimhen as the final piece of the puzzle in their rebuilding project under Enzo Maresca.
