Former Nigeria U17 forward trains with Southampton first team ahead of Crystal Palace clash
Published: March 28, 2025
Nigeria youth international Victor Udoh has been training with Southampton's first team ahead of the Premier League clash against Crystal Palace at St Mary's Stadium on Wednesday, April 2, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
A winter signing from Royal Antwerp in Belgium, Udoh rubbed shoulders with Nigerian duo Lesley Ugochukwu and Paul Onuachu, who was not called up for the March internationals against Rwanda and Zimbabwe after being named in the provisional squad.
Southampton head coach Ivan Juric observed Udoh at close quarters during a training session at Staplewood Campus this week.
Since he was born on October 18, 2004, he meets the eligibility criteria to represent Southampton in the Premier League and has been listed on the roster as an U21 player.
The former Golden Eaglets forward has yet to receive a call-up for a first team game since his arrival at the Saints two months ago.
However, he has been invited to train with the first team following his outstanding displays for the development squad.
On his home debut in the Premier League 2, Udoh bagged a brace as Southampton and Sunderland shared the spoils with a 3-3 draw.
He has some top-flight experience, having appeared in twenty-four matches in the Jupiler Pro League during his time with Royal Antwerp.
Udoh describes himself as a very direct player who likes to win games and hopes to achieve great things with Southampton.
