Published: April 08, 2025
Jeremy Monga entered the record books during Leicester City's 3-0 loss to Newcastle United in a Premier League match at the King Power Stadium on Monday night, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Aged 15 years and 271 days, the forward is now the second youngest player to debut in the Premier League , only behind Nigeria Football Federation target Ethan Nwaneri, who was 15 years and 181 days when he made his first appearance in the top-flight at Brentford in September 2022.
Monga, an England U16 international, has played up his age group this season, making appearances for the Foxes in the U18 Premier League, Premier League 2, EFL Trophy, and FA Youth Cup, and was an unused substitute in the fourth round of the FA Cup against Manchester United.
Wearing the number 93 on the back of his jersey, Monga came off the bench to replace Bilal El Khannouss with sixteen minutes remaining.
He was unable to wear the team's standard kit featuring the sponsor BC Game due to UK regulations prohibiting individuals under 18 from promoting gambling-related content.
Jeremy Monga was 4 years and 124 days younger than Wilfred Ndidi when the Nigerian star made his Premier League debut for Leicester City against Chelsea on January 14, 2017.
Ndidi holds the distinction of being the youngest player of Nigerian descent to feature for Leicester City in the Premier League, aged 20 years and 29 days when he made his first appearance in the division.
Since his historic debut against Chelsea, the Nath Boys product has appeared in 214 Premier League matches, scoring seven goals and producing thirteen assists.
