Positive update for Lazio and Nigeria: Dele-Bashiru returns to individual training after injury layoff
Published: October 25, 2025
Super Eagles midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is edging closer to full recovery from a hamstring injury that sidelined him since September.
The Nigerian international endured a difficult start to the season, going four Serie A appearances without a goal or assist before picking up the muscle injury.
As a result, he missed Lazio's last three league fixtures against Genoa, Torino, and Atalanta.
In an official statement on the club's website, Lazio revealed that Dele-Bashiru has resumed individual training and is nearing full fitness.
The development comes as a major boost for both Lazio manager Maurizio Sarri and Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle, with crucial fixtures on the horizon.
Sarri will be eager to have the 24-year-old back in contention as the Biancocelesti aim to turn around their inconsistent start to the campaign.
Meanwhile, the news will be equally encouraging for Chelle, who is preparing his squad for next month's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoffs.
The former Manchester City midfielder was unavailable for Nigeria's recent fixtures against Lesotho and Benin, during which the Super Eagles finished second in Group C to qualify for the playoffs as one of the best runners-up.
Despite his progress, Dele-Bashiru is unlikely to feature in Lazio's Serie A clash against Juventus on Sunday.
