'There's no denying it' - Atalanta coach points finger at Lookman as scoring woes continue
Published: October 26, 2025
Atalanta manager Ivan Juric has attributed his team's recent struggles in front of goal to the dip in form of key attackers, including Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman.
The manager made the revelation in an interview with DAZN following Atalanta's 1-1 draw against Cremonese on Saturday night at the Zini Stadium in Cremona.
Atalanta have found goals hard to come by this season, managing only twelve in their opening eight matches of the campaign.
Speaking on the struggle, Juric revealed that the team's offensive inefficiency has been caused by a combination of factors, including the slow return to form of Lookman.
"A bit of everything. Right now, we're lacking a bit of polish, there's no denying it," he explained as quoted by Tuttoatalanta.
"We're gradually reintroducing Scamacca, and each time he's growing a little more. Lookman, after a difficult summer, is working to regain his form.”
The Atalanta boss noted that both players were instrumental to the club’s success in previous seasons, but their current struggles have impacted the team’s sharpness in attack.
"These are players who in previous years made the difference and won games, but today they're not yet at their best, and that's having an impact,” he added.
"But the team, overall, makes few or no mistakes: they create plenty of chances, play, fight, but can't convert all that into goals. It's a question of brilliance, not quality or commitment."
Lookman has endured a challenging start to the season after a turbulent summer in which he attempted to push through a move to Inter Milan.
The Nigerian international is yet to register a goal or an assist in six appearances across all competitions since returning to the squad.
As the season unfolds, Lookman will be aiming to recapture his best form and play a key role in helping the Bergamo side achieve their ambitions this campaign.
