What Wolverhampton Wanderers manager said about Arokodare after goal against Chelsea
Published: October 30, 2025
Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Vitor Pereira has praised Nigerian forward Tolu Arokodare for his growing integration into the team following his goal in the 4-3 Carabao Cup defeat to Chelsea at Molineux on Wednesday night.
Arokodare, who joined Wolves in the summer transfer window after a breakout season with Genk in Belgium, struck early in the second half to give the hosts a lifeline after trailing 3-0 at halftime.
The 24-year-old calmly slotted home a low finish into the bottom corner to cap off a swift counterattack, a moment that drew loud cheers from the home fans.
The goal was his second since arriving in England, having opened his account in the third round win against Everton in September.
Speaking after the match, Pereira applauded Arokodare’s improved fitness and tactical understanding, noting that the striker is beginning to adapt to the rhythm of English football.
"It’s normal because now he has more training with us," Pereira said to Wolves official webpage.
"His fitness is better now than before, he understands what we need from him, and he is more connected with his teammates and he is ready to help us.”
After a slow start to life in the Premier League, Arokodare will be looking to build on his recent progress and play a key role in Wolves’ push to climb the league table following their Carabao Cup exit.
