Europe's Biggest Daily, Bild Rates DAVID ALABA As Bayern's Finest
Published: May 24, 2012
Europe's top newspaper, Bild has rated the Austrian-Nigerian wing back David Alaba as Bayern Munich's best player in the 2011 - 2012 season, ahead of more established players like Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben.
Bild suggested that if Alaba had played the UEFA Champions League final, Bayern would have walked away with the cup.
Some of Europe's elite clubs are doing everything possible to entice Alaba this summer. According to reports in Germany, Barcelona's first bid of 12 million euros for Alaba was turned down by Bayern, who value the super-teen at 30 million euros.
German website spox.com says Manchester United gaffer Alex Ferguson has targeted David Alaba as replacement for the aging left back Patrice Evra.
Alaba, 19, is currently the Austrian Player of the Year. The youngster is under contract with Bayern until the summer of 2015.
